My Crappy Samsun Stride R330

Well, I finally got around to writing my review of my current cell phone. And I have got to tell you; I am disappointed. It’s an OK phone, but not by any means Good. So, let’s start with the basic of it; this is a dumb phone, and my parents don’t want to pay for data, so I don’t have even mobile internet, but I am here to mostly review the phone as it is, not the service I get from US Cellular.

So, the first thing that bothers me about the phone is that the front display does not stay on and tell me what time it is. My old phone did that, and I got it in 2006. So, it no longer tell me what time it is just by looking at, I have to either open it up, or push the volume buttons to get the screen to turn on. Now, I can understand it dimming, as I don’t need it at maximum brightness all the time. But, I would like it on to tell me that the phone is on. This is very annoying, and I can’t find a setting to get it to stay on. I looked, and looked, and I can’t find it anywhere. So, I have made the assumption that it is not there.

Also, it froze before. While I was turning it off, it froze one day, causing me to have to get my dad and have him open the battery compartment up, and then remove the battery. It is most annoying. I don’t know if it will freeze again!

Also, the phone likes to tell me what time it was, and not what time it is. I’ve had the phone for about a week now, and the clock has frozen about 4 times so far. From what I understand, lots of people use their phones to tell them what time it is, so this is not some fringe feature that only a few people use. It’s the time! Why is it having such trouble telling me what time it is? The only way to get it to update the time is to go into a menu, and then exit out of it again, but because of the previously mentioned front display thing, I pretty much have to open my phone to tell what time it is. And I can’t even trust my phone to tell me anything! I’m not sure I could trust the GPS for the 911 emergency services. I bet it would freeze.

But, the phone calls work, it holds contacts, its smaller than my 2006 phone (and may last longer on battery power), but it doesn’t do the other important parts of the phone. So, me and my father are going to go get better phones. I’m thinking the LG UX220, from US cellular. It looks nice.
