It depends on who you talk to....

I like windows, I have always used windows, I'm used to the system it uses, and the way it works. I use XP, because my low end laptop could probley not support Vista (and I'm cheap). But depending on who you talk to, Vista is either bad, or good. SOme of the podcasts I listen to (like with Leo and his buddy Paul) seem to like Vista, and have said that they do not understand why people hate it so much. Now, before you say that they are just microsoft people, I think they are not, although I have no proof of it, I can just tell, because they walk about Mac, and talk about microsoft's short commings. Also, Jeff Gerstman has said he uses Vista (on his podcast), and does not have any major troubles.
Now, before you say "Well, I used it and it was flakey as hell when it came you". Well, yes. When it came out. But, according to wikipedia so was OS X, and the released 10.1 for free to fix these problems, and not 10.5 is seen as the greatest thing since the internet, or close to it (lol). So, all major OS releases have problems, and VIsta's are just seen more because of Apple, and the Apple people.
